CONCERNS GROW FOR MISSING FILMMAKER

Report filed 25 January 2004

Filming on Randy Henry’s Car Park project has halted.

The veteran filmmaker has not been seen for several months. Also, 22 digital tapes of his documentary about a Car Park in Salford, which were in his possession, have gone missing.

Becky Powsney, spokeswoman for Henry’s film company said, “The whole project is suspended. The fact is, until Randy returns, or is seen again, we do not have a complete film.

The car park attendants that Henry was working with are also missing.
“All of the staff involved in the film have disappeared.” Said Powsney.

Allied Parking Projects (UK) the company who currently own the Car Park said, “We have a high staff turnover and attach no importance to the fact that several personnel have left. It happens all the time. As for Mr Henry, while we are of course concerned, there is nothing that connects us directly with Mr Henry’s disappearance.

“We gave him access to film in one of our Car Parks. To be honest we thought the publicity might improve trade. However, there was no day-to-day contact. We didn’t even know he was missing until you rang us. In fact we’d more or less forgotten about the whole thing.”

Henry’s wife, Caroline O’Connor, said, “Normally, wherever Randy is in the world, he will contact me every couple of days. Even when he was filming in the Congo he made contact every 48 hours. Randy hasn’t rang me since 19 January and I am extremely concerned for his safety.”

O’Connor’s concerns are heightened by the fact that Henry was very animated the last time he spoke to her and said he had “Cracked it”. “Partly for my own safety he never give me details of his projects until filming was complete but I know Randy and I know that was he had discovered was significant.”

Becky Powsney commented, “Our research team are going to go through all the tapes in our possession, and all the research notes Randy left in the office. Perhaps it will give us clue as to what happened.

“It also frustrating that the main participants in the film have disappeared. They may have a clue to Randy’s disappearance. We don’t know if their situation is linked with Randy’s.

Meanwhile, the release date of Car Park, a docusoap that goes behind the scenes at a Car Park in Salford, has been put back indefinitely.
